Hourly Labor-Only Crews

Labor-Only Loading and Unloading at $95/hr

Sometimes the truck end of the move is already handled. A Penske is reserved at the curb, a U-Haul is booked, a Budget is sitting in the drive, a POD has been dropped, a personal trailer is hooked to the pickup. What is actually missing is the muscle and the loading sense to pack the box tight or empty it fast. Summit sends a labor-only crew at $95/hr for two movers with no equipment minimum. You drive; we load, stack, strap, and pad so nothing shifts on I-70 east and nothing arrives crushed under a kitchen pallet. The DIY move without the part that takes out your back and your Saturday.

The labor-only crew is still our W-2 movers in Summit uniforms, the same guys who run the 26-ft boxes. Not day-labor from a Craigslist post, not a subcontracted Labor Ready crew, not a national service that emails a quote and ships somebody we have never met. Loading a truck well is real work: heavy and square pieces on the floor, weight balanced front-to-back across the axle, fragile items padded and wedged into the gaps. A wall of boxes that rides tight all the way to St. Louis beats a load that shifted inside the first ten miles outside Independence.

Penske, Budget, U-Haul, PODS, plus shuffle-in-place

The labor-only crew loads and unloads rental trucks (Penske, Budget, U-Haul), personal trailers, and portable containers (PODS, 1-800-PACK-RAT, U-Box). A hybrid DIY move where you only want the heavy half handled? Book just the Lee’s Summit load, or just the destination unload, or both. After new hardwood goes in, when furniture has to move out of a room for floors and back in once the finish dries, the same labor-only crew handles the in-home shuffle without a truck.

  • Labor-only crew billed at $95/hr for two movers, with no equipment minimum
  • Crew comes out to load or unload your Penske, U-Haul, Budget, personal trailer, or PODS container
  • Heavy on the bottom, balanced through the box, built to ride without shifting on the highway
  • Pad-wrapped pieces strapped down so nothing rubs, slides, or topples
  • Book the load end, the unload end, or both, however the trip is split
  • In-home shuffles after new floors or for a room swap

To book a labor-only crew that actually knows how to build a load, call Summit at (888) 711-4778. The truck is your problem; the muscle is ours.

Service FAQ

Will you load a rental truck I booked myself?
Yes, and it is one of the most-booked services on the list. The Penske, Budget, U-Haul, or trailer rental stays your call; our crew loads the box tight and balanced at $95/hr for two movers. The straps, the pads, and the skill of building the load come with the crew.
Is the labor-only crew actually Summit movers?
Yes. Same W-2 crew in Summit uniforms that runs the 26-ft boxes on full moves. No day-labor, no parking-lot hire, no subcontracted national service. Building a load well is a real skill and we send the same guys who learned it on our trucks.
Do you load PODS and portable containers?
We do. PODS, 1-800-PACK-RAT, U-Box, and similar containers. If a unit is sitting on a Lee's Summit driveway, the crew packs it tight inside the delivery window the rental company gave you. Building the load so it survives the next driver's route is the point of the visit.
Can I book just the unload?
Sure. If you drove the truck yourself and want the back-breaking unload handled at the destination, book the labor-only crew on that end. Plenty of customers split it: load help at this end, unload help at the other, two separate bookings or one combined.
Will you shuffle furniture inside the same house?
Yes, and it comes up a lot after new hardwood or carpet goes in. Same crew, same hourly rate, no truck needed. The pieces move out of the way, the floors get installed, and the crew comes back to set everything down where it goes.
